The Transformative Power of Baptism: Forgiveness and Renewal

Baptism is a sacred act and foundational to the teachings of Jesus. In it we find the forgiveness of sins and the transformative power of faith. Two key passages, Acts 2:38 and Romans 6:3-4, shed light on the profound significance of baptism.

The Necessity of Confessing Faith in Jesus.

One of the most important aspects of being a Christian is confessing faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This means publicly acknowledging that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again from the dead. Confessing faith in Jesus also means living according to his teachings and commands and following his example of love and service.

The Necessity of Believing in Jesus.

One of the key teachings of the Bible is that faith is essential to pleasing God. In Hebrews 11:6, we read: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” This verse shows us two important aspects of faith: belief and action.

The Plan of Salvation.

Today, I want to introduce a new series in our Bulletin articles. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and I’m excited about the opportunity to finally start it. In this series of articles, we are going to explore God’s plan of salvation. Each week we will cover a step in the plan, digging into the various issues that surround each step. My plan for this series is to introduce the subject in the Bulletin and then preach on that same subject.

The Need to be close to the Church.

Anytime a Christian creates distance, whether intentional or not, between themselves and the church, they are in danger. They are in danger of falling away from the church, the family of God, and eventually from the Lord Himself. Some prefer to keep their distance, not get too involved with the work of the church. Instead, they chose to be something between a member and a visitor. They come on Sundays to the worship services, which is good, but have little or no interactions with the church the rest of the week.

Keeping it clear

I read a story about a young girl who loved playing skeet-ball at the local arcade. The story talks about how the little girl loved the arcade and an exciting trip to the arcade. Once they arrived, the little girl asked her dad for some money. Not having anything smaller, dad hands her a twenty-dollar bill with instructions to get change in the amount of two fives and a ten. It wasn’t long before dad went searching for her, and as you can imagine, found her playing the skeet-ball game and having the time of her life.

A New Day

Good morning Church. I hope that, like me, you are excited about this new day we’ve been given. Not only has the Lord blessed us with a whole new day He has allowed us to move past all of the struggles and hardships of the past two years. I know this has been hard on all of us but Praise the Lord; we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I Desire Mercy and Not Sacrifice.

In Matthew 12:1-8, we have an interesting story of Jesus and his disciples walking through grain fields. As they walked through the field, the disciples were hungry and began to pick some grain to eat. Continue reading “I Desire Mercy and Not Sacrifice.”

The significance of “Seven.”

Over the past weeks, we have been looking at John’s gospel and the significance of the number seven. I hope it has been interesting and enlightening for each of you. Each group of seven conveys an important idea for us about Jesus and his role in our faith. Continue reading “The significance of “Seven.””

The Seven Feasts in John’s Gospel.

Up to this point, we have discussed several sevens found in the gospel of John. We have talked about the seven “I AM’s,” “Witnesses,” “Signs,” and the seven proofs of Jesus’ divinity. Each group conveys to us important information about Jesus and His true identity. As John said in John 20:30-31, his primary purpose for writing his gospel account of Jesus was to convince us of Jesus and to instill a saving faith within us. Thus, each of these seven’s is meant to teach us something important about Jesus. In today’s article we are going to look at the Seven Feasts mentioned in John’s gospel and hopefully, gain some insights into their purpose.

Drawing near to God

In James 4:8, is one of my favorite passages in Scripture. He tells us to draw near to God and He will draw near to us. This passage has been a guiding principle in my life for years. Yet, at times, it seems more difficult than at other times. Continue reading “Drawing near to God”
