Psalm 72-77.

Psalm 72 through Psalm 77 teach important lessons for anyone looking for comfort, especially when going through tough situations. In Psalm 72:20, David prays his final prayer, asking for good leadership and care of God’s people. David’s example reminds us that true spiritual leadership comes from humble prayer and sincere care for others, an example we can follow in our own roles and responsibilities. Even when situations feel overwhelming, God’s guidance is always present.

Then, in Psalm 77:10–12, we find the writer of the Psalm describing a painful period, possibly a severe skin problem, causing great worry and lack of rest. This reminds us that we all face challenges—health issues, relationship struggles, or spiritual battles. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and uneasy in these times, but the psalm’s writer does not stay in despair.

In the next part of Psalm 77, the writer stops to remember how God worked in the past. From the earliest parts of the Bible, God’s power and kindness are clear. He protected His people throughout history, and Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus never changes—He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The same God who did miracles back then can still help us now. When our faith feels shaky, thinking about how God took care of us in the past can help us stay firm.

Finally, the writer of Psalm 77 promises to think about God’s Word and His actions. Philippians 4:8 tells us to focus on what is true, good, and admirable. When we set our minds on who God is, and on His promises rather than our troubles, we open ourselves up to His peace. We are called to praise God in our struggles and share with others what He has done in our lives, as Mark 5:19 teaches. Sometimes, telling our story of God’s help can give others a reason to trust Him too.

These teachings apply as much today as they did during Bible times. When you face health problems, money issues, or conflicts with loved ones, remember how God has come through before. Think about His steady nature, pay attention to His Word, and tell people how He’s helping you right now. This kind of response not only strengthens your own faith but can also guide those around you to look at the One who never lets us down.
