Why Did Jesus Have to Die?

Isaiah 53:4-7

It’s a question I’ve been asked more than a few times, usually over coffee, sometimes in a hospital room, occasionally from someone sitting in the back pew with tears they’re trying to hide. Why did Jesus have to die? The truth is, it’s not an easy question to explain. Not because the answer isn’t there, but because the weight of it is almost too much to hold in a single conversation.

Does Worship Matter?

              I’ve heard this question asked and answered more times than I care to remember. What’s even more troubling to me is that it continues to be asked. The importance of worship cannot be overstated. It’s huge because it matters to the Lord, and it matters for us.

Inconvenient!

Suppose we changed our meeting time to 3 AM on Sundays. While we might not like it, many of us would be here despite the inconvenience. Now, relax! There are no plans to change the meeting time! I Desire Mercy and Not Sacrifice.

In Matthew 12:1-8, we have an interesting story of Jesus and his disciples walking through grain fields. As they walked through the field the disciples were hungry and began to pick some grain and eat it. The only part that seems odd is that the Pharisees were following them.
