When Jesus’ opponents pick up stones, he asks which of his good works has prompted their response. In John 10:31–42, Jesus points to the works of the Father as evidence of who he is. This sermon asks us to examine whether our hesitation comes from uncertainty or from resistance to what God has already made clear.
An honest response to clear teaching
The crowd understands Jesus’ claim but rejects it. Jeff applies that response to the ways we can call an instruction confusing when following it would require a difficult change. He encourages honest reflection about the next act of obedience we already understand.
Faith follows the evidence
Jesus refers to Scripture and to the works of his Father. The sermon calls listeners to pay attention to that evidence, read the signs recorded in John, and remember God’s faithfulness in their own lives.
