What a Good Father Does

Jeremiah 32:27

The city was surrounded. Babylon’s army had been camped outside Jerusalem’s walls for months, and everyone inside knew it was only a matter of time. That’s when God told Jeremiah to do something that must have seemed completely insane: buy a piece of land.

Not just any land. Land in the path of the very army closing in. Jeremiah paid good money for a field in Benjamin, signed the deed, sealed it in a clay jar, and handed it over. His reason was simple. God said that one day, people would buy and sell land in Israel again. Life would return. Restoration was coming. The purchase was a sign of faith in a future only God could see.

This Can Be Your Best Year Yet

As a new year begins, we do not all step into it the same way. Some of us come hopeful and eager, ready for a fresh start. Others arrive cautiously, carrying disappointments from the year behind us. Some are grieving. Some are tired. Some are quietly wondering if they have the strength to face whatever comes next. God meets us in all of those places, and it is there that our confidence must begin.

Numbers: a book about God’s faithfulness.

Up to this point, we have looked at Genesis through Leviticus. I hope each book has helped you learn something important about God and what he wants for you. Genesis is a book of beginnings: the beginnings of us, of sin, and just as importantly; the beginning of God’s love story with us. Exodus is a book of redemption: God redeems his people from sin and self; walks with them and moves heaven and earth for them. Leviticus is a book about relationships: God is a holy and just God who wants to have a personal relationship with his people. Leviticus details how we can approach God and have fellowship with him.

Many begin but not many finish.

In our series of articles, we are focused on basic principles that are needed to ensure the success of fellow Christians. Hopefully, we have made it clear that we need to emphasize the basics of the Christian life so that they have a better chance at success. We have emphasized that for the new Christian a drastic change has taken place. This change is so different from the life they are accustomed to living that it takes a while to adapt to this new life. The importance of a choice.
